Feyenoord Hosts Thrilling TeqGames Open Day at Sports Plaza

On May 2, 2024, the Feyenoord Sports Plaza in Rotterdam buzzed with excitement as the club hosted its TeqGames Open Day. The event drew in up to 130 young participants, primarily boys, with a demographic breakdown of 85% male and 15% female children aged 6 to 12 years.

The atmosphere was vibrant as children gathered to explore the dynamic world of Teq sports. While it was unfortunate that no disabled children were in attendance this time, the event still provided a fantastic opportunity for those present to engage in physical activity, learn new skills, and enjoy themselves in a supportive environment.

Feyenoord’s certified coaches warmly welcomed the children and outlined the day’s activities, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun. Participants were then divided into groups and rotated through various stations, each focusing on different Teq sports, with a particular emphasis on Teqball.

Throughout the day, the young athletes learned the basic rules and techniques of Teqball, a sport that combines elements of soccer and table tennis. Coaches demonstrated essential skills, including serving and volleying, while providing hands-on guidance to ensure that every child could participate and enjoy the game. This interactive approach allowed the children to quickly pick up the new sport, resulting in countless smiles and moments of triumph.

To keep everyone refreshed and energized, healthy snacks, including fruit and water, were provided for all participants and coaches. This emphasis on proper nutrition not only helped maintain energy levels but also set a great example for the young attendees, with coaches staying hydrated and enjoying the fruit alongside them.

The Feyenoord TeqGames Open Day was a resounding success, fostering a love for Teq sports among the young attendees and highlighting the benefits of physical activity and healthy living. The event also strengthened community ties at the Feyenoord Sports Plaza, bringing together children, parents, and coaches in a celebration of sport and camaraderie.

As Feyenoord looks ahead to future events, the club remains committed to promoting inclusive and enjoyable sporting opportunities for all children. They hope to see even greater diversity in participation at the next TeqGames Open Day, welcoming children of all abilities.
