The second edition of EU TeqGames will take place from 4 to 6 April 2025 at the iconic Palapellicone arena (Pala FIJLKAM) in Lido di Ostia, Rome. Building on the success of the inaugural event in Piraeus, this upcoming tournament introduces several new elements that aim to improve the competition structure, increase inclusiveness, and strengthen the educational component of the event.

“For us it is an honor to organize an international event like this in the Capital. This is an important recognition after years of widespread work to promote discipline in the city’s schools, starting with those in the most complex neighborhoods. In addition, this is a modern and inclusive sport that is increasingly widespread and practiced by children.”
— Andrea Paolini, President of S.S. Lazio Teqball

Compulsory workshop for coaches and players
Due to the great interest and success of the workshop held during the first edition, the Rome event will feature a mandatory workshop for both coaches and players. This session is designed to clarify any rules-related misunderstandings and create a shared foundation before the competition begins. Its interactive format will help players better understand Teqball’s dynamics and contribute to improved performance during the tournament.
Led by official FITEQ referees, the workshop will not only serve as preparation for athletes and coaches but will also be open to the public, offering a unique opportunity for anyone curious to discover and experience this modern and inclusive sport up close.

Inclusive team composition and gender equality
Each participating club will send a balanced team of four athletes (two male, two female), accompanied by up to two coaches and a club representative. Teams will come from several European countries, including Denmark, Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Bulgaria, and Greece, along with representatives from EMCA.
Gender equality remains a key pillar of the EU TeqGames project, not only in team structure but also in the tournament design.

In the first edition, some challenges emerged in attracting female participants – possibly due to Teqball’s close association with football, a sport that has traditionally seen lower female involvement. However, interest grew rapidly, especially among young girls who engaged with Teqvolley during side activities. This enthusiasm translated into stronger female participation, and for the second edition, we are proud to introduce a brand new female singles category. The full competition categories will now include: men’s singles, female singles, male doubles, female doubles and mixed doubles.

FITEQ collaboration
Thanks to a growing partnership with FITEQ (International Teqball Federation), the event will benefit from several enhancements:

• live scoring available through FITEQ’s official platform
• livestreaming of the Finals on FITEQ’s YouTube channel (6 April)
• FITEQ-certified referees, who will also train local volunteers on how to manage live scoring and event operations

Volunteers and cross-project collaboration
This edition also marks a unique moment of cross-project collaboration between EU TeqGames and the STAY project, both of which share common partners: EMCA, SS Lazio, HASK Mladost, and Levski. As part of this cooperation, partners were invited to engage volunteers from their STAY local implementation programmes to participate in and support the event in Rome.
